The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is cheap, often leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually pressed up the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.

In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
